Olson’s Power and Harris’ Average Give Atlanta a Quiet Confidence in Pittsburgh

July 9, 2026 · MLB
The spread says ATL -1.5 RL ATL vs PIT

The Braves don’t always make noise on their way to winning, and that’s what makes them dangerous. Michael Harris II (.307) is quietly one of the best young outfielders in the game, and Matt Olson’s 24 home runs give Atlanta a middle-of-the-order presence that makes every opposing starter’s life measurably harder.

Pittsburgh starts Mitch Keller, a pitcher who has shown he can handle good lineups on a given night. Nick Gonzales (.311) gives the Pirates a genuine contact threat, and Brandon Lowe’s 21 home runs mean this lineup can produce damage in bunches. Bryce Elder takes the ball for Atlanta — a pitcher who tends to let defense and the offense do the storytelling.

The run line at ATL -1.5 demands the Braves flex with authority, which is a reasonable ask of a club this talented. Pittsburgh’s ability to hang within a run or two is their best narrative play, and Keller is capable of keeping it close enough to matter.

Competent storylines, two pitchers who let bats talk — not a barnburner of a narrative. This one rates smooth on the Chunk Scale.
